  1. I bought my pasta maker about 15 years ago. In the beginning there was definitely a learning curve. It was messy but fun. Yes you have to learn how to put it together, Yes, it it noisy, yes you have to learn the measurements. But once you get it down, the machine will crank out a full load of pasta, about enough for a family of four of decent size eaters in about 10 minutes. We make it for our family of four and have enough for another dinner the next evening, but we use reasonable portions.

I make pasta two to three times a week with this machine and now it is no work at all. Just let all the parts dry with the leftover dough in them and the dough will fall off of the plastic in a snap. Then I just throw everything but the motor in the dishwasher. It is a blast. There is nothing like watching that pasta extrude out of the machine and knowing you made it yourself. My daughter’s high school friends are always trying to find out what i am cooking on Friday’s because they want in on the action. Cut Ronco a break. For the price (without the sausage maker) you can’t beat it.

  2. I do not recommend this machine.

It is not sturdy. After using it several times, it broke and I can no longer use it.

You cannot make more than a couple servings at a time; the dough begins to clog up the workings of the machine and it ceases to turn. You have to clean it all off before making more. Cleaning it is not that easy, a lot of parts get a lot of dough on them and you have to dig it out of the nooks and crannies unless you don’t mind waiting for your dishwasher to run or for it to dry out so that you can more easily just brush it out.

It makes a horrible loud squealing noise. The manufacturer actually acknowledges that it makes this noise and says that there is nothing wrong when it makes that noise. I disagree, it’s a horrible noise and I think it’s just another indication that this is not a slick machine.

I’m buying a hand-cranked one to replace this one.

  3. Awful! This machine is made out of plastic and cracks very easily. They give you a recipe for a very WET dough so it comes out of the poorly made machine easily but it tastes awful if you use a correct dough recipe the machine has a hard time pressing it out and ultimatley cracks the machine. Mine broke after 2 uses with the correct dough (their recipe was impossible to eat YUCK!!!!) re-ordered the part that broke 2 uses later it broke again. I am getting the Atlas its made of steel. I beg you do not waste your money. I wish I would have gotten a heads up.
